Caries is increasing in the adult patients you treat every day. This CE webinar will address the guidelines and treatment protocols that will help successfully prevent and manage dental decay in this population. I will discuss silver diamine fluoride; break down some of the common misconceptions surrounding its use and demonstrate how you can improve your standard operative/restorative treatment protocol by incorporating SDF into the routine hygiene appointment, whenever clinically appropriate. If you believe SDF is only for pediatric and geriatric patients, this webinar will change your approach. Other treatment options like fluoride varnish and sealants will also be covered. I will break down when and how each treatment should be used for best patient outcomes based on evidence.
During this CE webinar, we will: • Clarify the myths surrounding the use of SDF on adult patients and discuss its unique benefits • Explain SDF’s role in the hygiene appointment and, more broadly, in the standard operative/restorative treatment protocol • Review ADAs recommendations for the arrest and reversal of noncavitated and cavitated dental caries, including SDF, sealants and fluoride varnish • Develop an evidence-based treatment and prevention approach for adult patients
